Indian Butter Chicken

  • Water
  • 1 tin tomato puree
  • Ground paprika
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • Ground cinnamon
  • 1 onion
  • Vegetable oil
  • Butter
  • KNORR chicken cubes
  • Cream
  • Plain yoghurt
  • Lemon juice
  • Ground turmeric
  • Medium curry powder
  • Ground cayenne pepper
  • Ground black pepper
  • 1 Fresh chilli chopped
  • Ground cumin
  • Fresh ginger chopped
  • Fresh garlic chopped
  • Chicken fillet sliced

Preparation Method

  • Combine the yoghurt, lemon juice, turmeric, curry powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, chilli, cumin, garlic, crumbled KNORR stock cubes and ginger and mix well
  • Add the chicken strips and leave to marinade in the fridge for 30 minutes
  • Heat the butter and oil in a frying pan, add the onion, cinnamon and bay leaf and cook for 2 minutes or until the onion softens
  • Reduce heat and add the chicken and marinade, tomato puree, paprika and water, and simmer for 15 minutes
  • Add the cream and simmer for a further 10 minutes
  • Serve with white rice and fresh coriander
